The subscription entitles you to use the software as long as your IU computing accounts are active you are not entitled to use the software after you leave IU. Your IU Microsoft 365 subscription allows you to install Microsoft Office on up to five personal computers (Windows and macOS), five tablets (Windows, iPad, and Android), and five phones. Microsoft 365 is a subscription-based service that allows IU students, faculty, and staff to use the newest versions of Microsoft Office on their personal Windows and macOS computers, via the web with Office Online apps, and on their smartphones and tablets with Office Mobile apps. Please let me know if you have any other questions in the comments.If you buy a personal Microsoft 365 subscription from Microsoft, and later get a subscription through the university, IU cannot refund the cost of your purchase from Microsoft. The 2019 version (all apps) costs around INR 9700, and the Student version costs INR 3000 (when on sale). This version allows to add up to 6 people, which in the end goes to around INR 670 per person per year. If you have people who want to use Office as well, then buy 365 for the low price. However, if you're only going to use for basic Word/PowerPoint/Excel files, and don't care for new features, then you can buy the 2019 version, however it will give you only the 3 mentioned apps.
I recommend using this 365 version for its always-up-to-date model, and all the other features that come up with it. If you're concerned about whether to use this or a 2019 version:

You can use this on a Windows PC or a MAC. You only get a key for your Office 365 (now known as Microsoft 365). You don't get any installation disc or anything, it is pointless anyway. I got a box edition with a key card inside on the first order, but only got a key card for the second order. I have ordered this product twice, once in October 2019 for INR 3500, and second October 2020 for INR 3990 to renew.
